Dear Christine
I liked the new version better, especially as the leaves related back to leaf and gave me pause for thought, whereas in the first version it loses its weight. Also the last stanza spells it out, though I don't usually have much problem with that!
Funny how losing a line or two can change something so much.
I liked your blog too. I don't seem to have many people to talk writing to, certainly not poetry, and I miss it. My friends from MLitt are not poets.
Good luck with the novel. I empathise with your frustration with publishers and agents.
